A Skyward Gaze

a poem

Author’s photo

Subconscious rises to conscious,
the conversations your soul has
behind your thoughts.

Between waves of respiration
that tiny voice reveals itself
like a buoy.

Washed clean by breaths, mind is easy,
clamoring lulls beyond thinking,
beyond setting.

Life, lolling on a gyroscope,
reflecting its own paradox
on the surface,

wavering. All instants made more
stunning in reverberation.
Instants, ripples,

forming new instants, forever.
The horizon glow I inhale
with every breath.

Fingers brushing the calm water,
droplets falling from strands of hair.
A skyward gaze.
